Tears of Joy

After watching and listening to this, you know it's one of these days when you can proclaim, FUCK pop music! (I don't normally use the four letter word, but how apt it is to use it here)

If there's anything that can evoke tears of pure and unbridled joy, this will be your chance!

Triviality and Banality

So, I was bored and decided to flip through the New Paper (the epitome of gossip) when I saw this striking headline that totally grabbed my attention:

Wow! How interesting! Come to think of it, quite amusing too! How could a self-proclaimed Queen of Halloween be afraid of a little farm animal, whom we think nothing of chewing on its flesh at a hawker centre? True to the New Paper's penchant for blowing up the most trivial things to fowl(oops!) proportions, I realised the gist of it all:

Bah! I should have known better than to disregard the New Paper's tendency to make unimportant movie actresses look thread-bare interesting. But I decided to give the article a chance, and see if I can gleen anything mildly interesting from it. Alas, I was hopelessly optimistic. If this doesn't convince you, I don't know what will:

*Clap Clap Clap*! Now we are enlightened by the fact that REAL chickens are difficult to hold! I bet you guys are reeling from the shock of knowing that. You will love her for the insightful knowledge, yeah? :p

Or perhaps, might you have speculated that she could be some cutey? For the paedophilic guys, her name is Maki Horikita, and yes she is 18. I do hope for her sake that she realised how trivial and banal she portrayed herself to be. Then again, some guys might find it cute. And yes, before you thwarp me for not posting a nice picture of her, here it is:

Instead of concluding that I have wasted my time reading the New Paper, at least I can say I found a girl who's actually cute, yeah? Come on, admit it, she is. ;p
Triviality and Banality might seem to be at odds with me, but I have to admit it's entertaining, hehe.

Is there hope for us!

What glimmer of hope is there for us when such advertisements are allowed to plant seeds of doubt in our minds?

I sure hope that most of us do not get confused by it, and carrying on chasing the fairer sex. That way our population will be saved. Go forth and multiply! ;p

p.s what do you people think that this advertisement is trying to tell us? *clueless*

The Viper strikes to leave an indelible mark on your aural consciousness.

This has got to be the most popular Chopin being played all over the world these days. You might have seen it in the movie 'The Pianist', starring Adrien Brody in a dramatic account of how the Holocaust affected him and his family.

What could be more apt than this piece, in expressing one's inner emotions, that is forcibly suppressed repeatedly in his bid for survival?

And of course, this man is probably one of the few who can bring out such an outburst of passionate musical colour through his immediately apparrent clinical execution on the piano. It's easy to get lost, or even get enraptured, by his devilish virtuosity.

No matter, it should not detract you from feeling the raw energy that is despair. Even the most optimistic of us will have felt, at some point in our lives, some degree of emotional abyss.

Here it is, Vladimir Horowitz, playing Chopin Ballade No.1, opus 23.

Flames of Irony - SoaD

In keeping with the main purpose of the blog(which is to create awareness for good music), . you will get to know about an awesome song. It concerns a band, through which it may become a mouthpiece, to communicate and challenge the world, to think critically about the global society in which they live in.

The irony lies in 2 members of the band who grew up in Beirut, and what's been happening there. This song is called Boom.

Confused? I am sure you know I am implying. Perhaps you sense the irony? Whatever you might conclude, watch, and know.

All in a day's quirkiness: NO SHIT!

Last sunday was meant to be a gathering of sorts with the guys at Sentosa. The purpose? Just plain hanging out, enjoying the sun sea, and babes. Not only did we encounter nothing interesting(except for girls sun-tanning by proning bare-back, who should really turn over *grin*), we ended up doing the thing we do best; SLACK. UNTIL we thought we saw somebody somewhat familiar, and here he is.

Now, I don't know about you, but this bugger, whom we saw trudging along the sands of siloso beach, seriously looks like Gabriel Batistuta, one of the greatest Argentinian footballers ever. He is also the country's top scorer with 56 goals, hence his well-earned nickname 'Batigol'.

We were mostly scratching our heads as he walked past us with his wife and kid. It goes something like this.

Jason: Eh, look at him!
Me: What?!
Jason: Aiyah, just look at him! Splitting image of...
Me: Batistuta?! In Singapore??

Jason quipped that he now lives in Perth, and thus it became impossible to rule out the remote possibiliy that it really is him!

Me: Shall we ask him for a photo? I mean, even if he isn't Batistuta, he really really looks like him!
Jinyuan: ahahaha, don't bother lah...

And so, will we regret this decision? Should we have worked up the courage to even ask for a photo with a complete stranger? I found out sooner than I thought when I saw this in the New Paper today.

WTF! Really, that went through my head when I read the paper. He was spotted at the Night Safari and someone did verify his identity. It really was him we saw! No shit indeed.

What do you envisage when I tell you to think about 2 old men sitting in the pastures, against a backdrop of pristine rivers, enjoying their favourite pastime? No, it isn't fishing. Just check out these 2 dudes just having one heck of a time. Though I have scant knowledge of this piece of work, it's beauty is undeniable.

It all starts with a wisp of aural awareness

Wooo! Here I am with this blog for well, hopefully critical and interesting insights. Of what you might say? Anything under the sky some yearn to caress.
